• Meet the Newest Packer-Rodney Allen

As I mentioned earlier this morning the Packers signed DT Rodney Allen to replace Evan Moore who was recently put on IR. Little information could be found on Rodney Allen except that he played for the Odessa Roughnecks in the Intense League (an arena football league). Thanks to Brats and Beer.com there is now a highlight video of Rodney Allen. In the video you can tell that Rodney Allen is a pretty big football player and he appears to have some speed. I wouldn’t get to excited about what is in the video though. He does make some big plays in the video but we need to remember that this is the intense league which has much less talent than the NFL. There are also different rules than the NFL.

I really doubt that Rodney Allen has any chance of making the roster. If he was that great of player I think someone would have picked him up earlier. I think he is just a camp body. The Packers are really thin at the DT position so at least we will have another player to take some of the snaps. I think the most Rodney Allen can hope for is to make the practice squad.

What are your thoughts on the signing? Do you think Rodney Allen is just a camp body or do you think he could actually make a difference this season?
