What is RSS?

What is RSS you might be asking? An RSS Feed is a recent development in internet technology that allows people to quickly see if there have been any new updates to their favorite sites. Whenever a blog posts a new article, you are notified through RSS (I won’t get into technical details since I am not clear on all the specifics myself).

So why use RSS Feeds? RSS Feeds simply allow you to save time since you won’t have to keep checking back at your favorite sites if they haven’t updated. It also helps you not miss any recent posts on a website that you might have missed otherwise.

There are two ways that you can subscribe to the Packerholic RSS Feed and receive all the latest updates from the Packerholic. You can either subscribe to an RSS feed through an RSS Feed reader or through email. Both are available on the Packerholic and you can check them both out on the sidebar to the right (RSS Reader is the first thing in the section and the email subscription is the second one).

To subscribe to the email feed all you have to do is enter your email address in the box and hit the subscribe button. It is that simple. Every day you will then receive an email that will contain a short description and link to every post on the Packerholic from the previous day. If you don’t receive the email check your spam folder since your email might have considered it spam. I doubt it would but you never know. Don’t worry I will never receive your email address so you don’t have to worry about getting any spam if you subscribe to the Packerholic Feed.

To subscribe via an RSS Feed reader you have several choices including Bloglines (my preferred choice), Google Reader, or many other choices. When you click on the box at the top of the RSS Feed Section you will be brought to a page that look like this.

This is what the screen will look like when you click on one of the subscribe buttons.

In the drop down box select the feed reader that you are currently using.

That isn’t the only way to suscribe to the feed. If you are already logged into you feed reader you can enter this address http://feeds.feedburner.com/Packerholic in order to directly suscribe to the feed.

When you have successfully subscribed to the feed you will get something like this (this is in Bloglines):
